Valentine's Day countdown continues......

Maybe this is kind of "ugly," but I like it. I'm not really sure how it was made, but I do know that it involves enamel (fusing powdered glass to metal) and copper. Perhaps I've answered my own question and that's all there is to it. The artist seems intrigued by the end result herself.

Definitely a one-of-a-kind.

Cut out my heart

These Valentine's Day cards look great. Very professional. They are really easy to make, too. These are linocut prints. The image is carved out of a linoleum tile which is a relatively soft material. Much easier to carve than wood. I'm pretty sure that the polka dots on the first card were done using chin collé (gluing paper (usually rice paper) on top of your print using the pressure of the press).

DIY Lampshades

There are so many ways you can make your own lampshade. It really depends on your personal style. Then you can easily rig it up with a working light bulb and cord.

Repurposed Pincushions

A theme of ours here at The UCC is repurposing.

Pincushions are a great and simple way of taking objects that are broken or unused and turning them into something beautiful and useful.

Here are some examples I found by various crafters.
