Pyropgraphy, a.k.a. Wood Burning

It's a new year - on to new and exciting things.

Recently showing at La Luz de Jesus Gallery located in the Wacko/Soap Plant bookstore was an innovative artist named Jason Houchen who exhibited his wood burnings (aka pyrography). I am especially inspired by this choice of medium as I am half Swiss and this is a craft form that is popular over there for traditional woodcrafts, such as cutting boards and decorative plates. I like how Houchen has blended craft with art. This is the type of approach that we get excited about here at the UCC.
